Our 2012 release, in limited edition, is a journey into a haunting landscape of yearning, outrage and escapes into imagined realities. The title track whispers of Portishead and Bjork, yet screams with a satisfying pop rock chorus. Valerie and bassist Veronika Safarova built a layered sound, complete with teasing guitar melodies and a rhythm section that guides listeners into Valerie's heart-wrenching, thoughtful lyrics and arrangements. Produced by Jason Carmer (Camper Van Beethoven, The Donnas, Third Eye Blind, Molotov), players include Michael Urbano on drums (Sheryl Crow, Smash Mouth) and Joe Gore on guitar (PJ Harvey, Tracy Chapman).

LIFE ON THE MOON happiness, soul mates sold in Sunday’s best on a billboard where greens are brown, water like plastic food like soap, bodies anorexic birds in a cage afraid to feel we’re told it’s all good, we’re told its all real what if the moon’s the only thing in this world that’s real let’s climb up a ladder, let’s get outta here we’ll run it all, without borders or countries won’t take the fall, we’ll be sworn to what’s true cuz if its up to only me and you to build and to shine, we’ll start a new life on the moon remember looking up amazed by the stars remember realizing how small we really are remember what it’s like to touch and think only of me to feel the present so very deeply what if the moon’s the only thing in this world that’s real let’s climb up a ladder, let’s get outta here we’ll run it all, without borders or countries won’t take the fall, we’ll be sworn to what’s true cuz if its up to only me and you to build and to shine, we’ll start a new life on the moon

Incite Riot 03:59
did I imagine you, my friend? always a chance i did traveled to a different plane in one conversation tension in the air so thick can barely find my voice in it a minute lasts for a day all my sense gone completely astray oh, you’re quite a kindred spirit you incite my riot with your fires and overturned cars you’re the crime I yearn for now I run from the scene angry crowd chasing me getaway car down the street where you patiently waiting oh, you’re quite a kindred spirit you incite my riot with your fires and overturned cars you’re the crime I yearn for I yearn for

Awake 04:13
my body tingles with inertia I’m still in bed, blank slate in my head used to put it on paper to get it off my chest but I’m only sleeping, not even dreaming Shake me awake I want to give I am ready to take Shake me awake before it’s too late I worked sleepwalking like a robot society made me exhausted from apathy so I crawled into a cave where I found comfort I’m done with hibernation nowI need some stimulation Shake me awake I want to give I am ready to take Shake me awake before it’s too late I’m growing impatient feel like I’m already ancient Shake me awake I want to give I’m ready to take Shake me awake before it’s too late don’t let it get too late

about

Valerie Orth New York

Amidst the madness of 2020, when nothing is certain and we struggle to find hope for the future, we need artists like electro alt-pop songwriter/guitarist/producer Valerie Orth. She writes with a strong sense of self and a fierce feminist perspective, telling stories about alienated humanity and visions of a better tomorrow. Her new album, Rabbit Hole, due out Dec 4, couldn’t be more timely. ... more
